We love this cedar chest because it offers a great classic style at an affordable price! You will enjoy a large storage area that is lined with a cedar veneer that will help preserve your most precious heirlooms. I personally assembled this cedar chest myself and thought assembly was simple and the instructions were easy to understand. The base comes assembled, so you just need to put the front, top, sides and back together. The exterior is beautifully finished with a hardwood veneer that is sure to look beautiful for years to come.

It has fallen apart

I received this and assembled it with no issues other then the instructions were written poorly with bad pictures and very little wording. The first issue I noticed was that the hinges for the lid were very tight and seemed like the spring tension was way to tight for the laminated particle board pieces. On the outside and inside it appears to be very solid wood construction but after opening and closing the lid about 4 times the back panel that the hinges were attached to broke the wood from the panel. I immediately noticed that the wood is not hard wood yet particle board. I called hay needle the company I purchased this from and I am waiting to hear what they are going to do for me. They mentioned getting a new back panel from the company that makes this chest ( Cedarchests.com? A hayneedle store? ) I am afraid that even if they send a new back panel that it will just break again with the amount of stress that the hinges put on the back panel where the hinges attach. I may have to remove the springs from the hinges and try to get less stronger ones if that is possible. I would love to talk with the manufacture to discuss options if that is possible. I would also like to speak to anyone else who has purchased this product.

        This product was made poorly and the hinges were so hard to open, it broke the flakeboard on the back of the frame! Thisproduct needs to be made stronger and the hinges need to be different!
