Enjoy the clean lines and the 1960s cool of the Vintage Modern Cedar Chest - Walnut. Brushed nickel hardware reveals a surprise: those drawers don't open. Instead, raise the lid using the fingertip-easy spring-loaded, stay-put safety hinges, and breathe in the real cedar scent, thanks to the genuine cedar lining. Much more storage this way! Handsome antiqued interior hardware complements the traditional, warm walnut exterior finish, polished to a satin glow. The back of the chest is fully finished, so you can set it anywhere. Narrow tapered legs are 60s hip. To make this cedar chest sturdy and attractive, construction consists of MDF covered by wood veneers. Please take care when assembling. If included cam locks are not properly installed, this cedar chest won't be at its best.

          I've been a buyer for Hayneedle for over 6 years. One of my favorite parts of the job is working closely with our suppliers and creating new looks and styles for exciting new products. The Vintage Modern Cedar Chest created a little controversy here in the office when the name was first released. Which is it - vintage or modern? Can a cedar chest ever really be considered modern? Well, this item was inspired by an actual vintage cedar chest I picked up at an antique sale. We updated the style for a "today" look with clean lines and small, minimalist knobs for a decorative element. The decorative knobs are a modernized cone shape version from the 1950s, and are surrounded by a subtle trim around the front of the piece. The legs have a slightly turned-out 50s look with a shape that matches many bedroom sets from modern day. The deep walnut finish allows just enough wood grain contrast to show through. It's a great color to coordinate with many of the bedroom sets seen today. This item would be functional and gorgeous in a bedroom, living room, or den. I am pleased to offer such a great design for a fraction of the cost when compared to other companies or big brand names.[...]
